A Breath of Fresh Air: Community Connection Delivers for Veteran in Need

At the International Fire Foundation, our Community Connection program is dedicated to creating a safety net for those who need it most. This last week, we had the opportunity to assist a retired veteran in Wichita, Kansas, and provide them with well deserved support. The veteran, who had recently been placed in new housing, relied on an oxygen machine for respiratory needs. While this was essential for their well-being, it also presented a fire safety challenge. The vet was required to have a presence of a fire extinguisher, but the cost of acquiring one proved to be a significant barrier.

Fortunately, our Community Connection program was able to step in and make a difference. We reached out to Pinnacle Fire and Automation, a generous local organization, and they graciously donated a fire extinguisher for the veteran's home. But the community connect network did not stop there. We wanted to ensure that the fire extinguisher reached the veteran safely and promptly. We turned to our friends at the local Wichita Fire Department for assistance. They went above and beyond, personally delivering the fire extinguisher directly to the veteran's home. The dedication and commitment to serving the community truly made a difference in this situation. This heartwarming collaboration between the International Fire Foundation, Pinnacle Fire and Automation, and the Wichita Fire Department highlights the power of our community connection program.

When individuals and organizations come together, incredible things can happen. In this case, a retired veteran in need received the support they required to ensure their safety and well-being.
